Transport

Need to get somewhere on public transport? Don't pay the full fare.  Here are some schemes available to help you save money.

Young Persons Railcard

If you are aged 16-25, or 26+ and in full time education for just £24 a year you'll save 1/3 on fares throughout Great Britain. Particularly useful if you are away at university in another part of the country or looking to travel round the country visiting friends at university.

Make sure you don't end up with 2 of these cards as some student bank accounts provide this card as an incentive to taking their account out.

Oyster and Travel cards

In London you can use the Oyster or smart card to travel around the city's transport network. Top up an Oyster card and away you go.

Many local authorities or council's offer a travel/smart card for those frequently traveling on local bus services. This allows you to pay with your smart card rather than cash and you get discounts on travel and other useful things. Check out your local council website for more details.
