...travel insurance?
Some people will instinctively answer this question “rip off”. However, when you think about it, we probably all know of someone who has claimed on their travel policy following an illness or mishap when holidaying abroad.
In common with most insurance products, we are tempted only to see their value when actually making a claim. So, in essence, it's probably wise to think of it as a payment for peace of mind… until the unfortunate happens of course.
It's frightening to think that the cost of an air ambulance on the East Coast of America could set you back £35,000. Of course, it's not just medical expenses that are covered as holiday insurance can also compensate you for the loss of luggage and personal belongings, including money and passports.
We say: “Better safe than sorry”
TOP TIP 1: you don’t need to take out the travel agent’s own travel insurance at the time of booking. Arranging your own cover can often save you up to 50%.
TOP TIP 2: most insurance companies now offer an annual policy, covering you for all travel during a twelve month period… and very often for not that much more than the cost of two weeks cover. |
